There’s nothing worse than unexpected weather on a long ride. So, we’ve created a list of our favorite rain gear to keep you comfortable, dry, and prepared.
Heated pant liner
Rain gear is meant to protect against precipitation, and heated pant liners can weather the low temps that often come with it. The breathable, waterproof stretch fabric in the front of the pants block wind with heating panels that feature a soft and flexible carbon shape for maximum heat transfer. They fit easily under outer garments to keep you toasty in your favorite jeans or rain pants.

A good rain jacket

A good rain jacket that fits over your leathers will keep you dry on and off the bike. The Frogg Togg’s FTX Elite Jacket features waterproof, water repellent extreme water hold-out material and a vented hood so you can stay dry in even the wettest conditions. With the fleece-lined collar and dual handwarmer pockets you’ll maintain maximum warmth and breathability. While the FTX Elite is only available in men’s sizes, the Women’s Java Toadz has comparable features. We recommend wearing your leathers or protective gear under this rain protection and choosing a bright-colored rain jacket so it’s easier for others to see you on the road during inclement weather.
Anti-fog
You should consider wearing a helmet whenever you ride, but a full-face helmet with an anti- fogging visor will greatly increase visibility in the rain. Visor treatments are also available like “Cat Crap” along with anti-fog inserts that come with certain visors or can be fitted to your visor pinlock. Some helmets even have an electric component with a defrost that works like your car windshield to combat the harshest riding conditions.
The biggest thing to remember when riding in severe weather is that you should drive slowly and pull over to wait out the storm if the conditions warrant it. For cloud cover there’s rain gear, but for even more coverage — there’s Progressive.
